Housing Development in Benue State

Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia’s administration has made housing development a key component of its urban renewal and economic growth agenda. Recognizing the importance of decent and affordable housing, the government has initiated strategic partnerships and housing projects aimed at reducing the housing deficit across Benue State.

One of the administration’s landmark achievements in the housing sector is the launch of the BIPC Eco-City Estate in Makurdi. The project is designed to provide modern and affordable housing for residents while transforming Makurdi into a more organized and competitive urban center. The estate is expected to deliver over 1,000 housing units and create employment opportunities during and after construction.

Governor Alia has also strengthened collaboration with federal housing agencies to expand access to affordable homes. His administration supported the utilization of over 116 housing units constructed under the National Housing Programme in Makurdi, ensuring that more citizens can benefit from quality housing at affordable rates. The government is further exploring mortgage financing options to make home ownership easier for civil servants and other residents.

In addition, the administration has promoted sustainable urban development through improved planning, infrastructure expansion, and investments in housing-related projects. These efforts are helping to modernize communities, attract investors, and improve the living conditions of the people of Benue State.

Through these initiatives, Governor Alia continues to demonstrate a commitment to providing affordable, accessible, and sustainable housing solutions that contribute to the overall development of Benue State.
