Massive Road Construction In Benue State

Since assuming office, Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia has prioritized road construction as a key driver of economic growth and development in Benue State. His administration has embarked on extensive road projects across urban and rural communities, aimed at improving transportation, enhancing connectivity, and opening up agricultural areas for increased economic activities.

The government commenced the construction of 16 township roads in Makurdi shortly after taking office and later expanded the initiative with additional township road projects across the state. Reports indicate that over 390 kilometers of roads are either completed or under construction across Benue’s 23 local government areas, making road infrastructure one of the administration’s flagship achievements.

In rural communities, Governor Alia’s administration has also undertaken strategic road projects such as the Manyam–Unongo Village–Adikpo Road in Kwande Local Government Area and the Tyowanye–Uga Road in Buruku Local Government Area. These projects are designed to improve access to markets, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions while boosting agricultural productivity.

The road construction programme has transformed several parts of Makurdi, Gboko, and other communities, reducing travel time, easing transportation challenges, and stimulating economic activities. Through these infrastructure investments, Governor Alia continues to lay the foundation for a more connected, prosperous, and accessible Benue State.
